Those suffering from chronic pain are more commonly using topical CBD products, in particular CBD oil, to manage symptoms of general pain, inflammation and internal discomfort. With the dominance of massive pharmaceutical companies and the opioid epidemic in the US showing no signs of abating, CBD oil products can’t hit the market soon enough…

Said big pharma makes research on CBD much less likely to see the light of mass media, and thus few studies on CBD for pain from American authorities exist as of this writing – though USRDA  approval for sale and dispensation of CBD oil products should indicate that these goods are at least marginally safe and effective. No research is needed to attest to the efficacy of CBD for some doctors, though, and prescriptions are available.



In advance of nationwide legalization of CBD in the USA, a survey of five decades’ worth of studies undertaken between 1975 and 2018 which tested CBD on cancer pain, neuropathic pain and fibromyalgia. The survey showed unquestionable effectiveness in pain management with no notable side effects.

One burgeoning area of CBD oil treatment is in arthritis pain relief and though product is widely attainable in the US and Europe, again are studies lacking. Studies in laboratory rodents as recent as 2018 have shown immediate improvement in pain relief and inflammation issues.

The use of cannabinoids of any sort as use for medical conditions began with cancer and relief of pain and discomfort from the disease. On this note, the US National Cancer Institute (NCI) has recommended CBD as a possible option for reducing the side effects of chemotherapy, including pain; nausea and vomiting; and appetite loss.
In using CBD for pain, one must note that, while CBD oil typically doesn’t produce dramatic side effects, the compound may interact with prescription medications and over-the-counter drugs – so, as they say, check with your doctor to see if any interaction between the medications is possible.
